Two Bettendorf police officers were shot early Wednesday morning. The suspect was also shot.
Both officers were treated at the hospital and have been released, according to a news release from the Bettendorf Police Department.
The suspect was also taken to the hospital and is being treated. In a video posted around 9:15 a.m., Bettendorf Police Chief Doug Scott said the man is stable, but did not specify the extent of his injuries.
Police responded around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to a domestic disturbance involving a knife in the 2600 block of Cypress Drive, police said. When they arrived, officers encountered a 23-year-old man with a gun, and there was an exchange of gunfire.
The officers have been placed on critical incident leave.
The department has brought in the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation to look into the incident and provide information to the Scott County Attorney's Office to review.
DCI was on scene Wednesday morning to conduct its investigation.
It was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public, the release said.
"I want everyone to know that our community is safe, there is no active threat, no other persons were injured," Scott said in the video. "This is just a stark reminder of how our officers put themselves in harm's way and the sacrifices they make every day to keep our community safe."
This is the second officer-involved shooting in the Iowa Quad-Cities this month. Davenport police officers shot an armed person on Monday, May 12, though few further details have been released in that incident.
As of Wednesday afternoon, a representative of DCI could not provide further details on either incident and the Scott County Sheriff's Office had not yet responded to a request for more information on the Davenport investigation.
